An aircraft is a machine that is able to fly by gaining support from the air, or, in general, the atmosphere of a planet.In the Known Universe the most widespread types of aircraft are Ornithopters and Flyers.
In contrast crafts which are supported by Suspensors are known as Drifters or Levitators ("Levs").
Known kinds of aircraft
Original Dune
- Ornithopter - Occur in several different types and variants, larger or smaller.
- Spotter - Aerial spotters specifically, smaller than ornithopters.
- Carryall - Heavy-lift aircraft capable of transporting harvesters and all manner of super-heavy loads (hence their colloquial name).
